Writing

Write On Art Prize

The Write On Art Prize is open until March 31, 2020. The prize is sponsored by Art UK and the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art.

Wicked Young Writers

The “prestigious Wicked Young Writer Awards” (The Times) was established by the long-running musical WICKED to link the important messages of the production with a competition that would inspire young people to use creative writing to look at life a little differently. Since its launch in 2010, we have received over 20,000 entries to the award.

The Wicked Young Writer Awards 2020 are open until March 2, 2020. 

Funny Pearls Competition

Brief: Write a story of 100 words on the theme: Winter.

The Funny Pearls Competition is open until December 1, 2019.

Reflex Fiction Flash Fiction Competition

Welcome to Reflex Fiction, a quarterly international flash fiction competition for stories between 180 and 360 words run by independent publisher, Reflex Press.

Christopher Tower Poetry Prize 2020

The Tower Poetry competition is the UK’s most valuable prize for young poets, and is open to students between 16-18 years of age who are educated in the UK.

Soundwork Short Story Competition

BeAnimal Writing Competition

Creative Writing Ink Competition

Festival of Words Poetry Competition

National Short Story Award Winner

 This prize is awarded yearly by the BBC. 

Entrants must have a prior record of publishing creative work in the UK.

Stories up to 8,000 words are accepted.

Commonwealth Short Story Prize

Stories must be 2,000 – 5,000 words in length and previously unpublished.

Cool For School Competition

This competition is designed to challenge students to explore the science, technology, engineering and mathematical principles that underlie refrigeration processes and come up with a simple experiment or presentation to demonstrate one of these.

CO2Chem Video Prize 2019

We are pleased to announce that a new science-media prize has been announced for 2019. The prize will be awarded in two categories for the best short-form documentary showing how Carbon Dioxide Utilisation can be used as part of an approach to remove fossil-based carbon from the economy. This is all part of an effort to reduce and then reverse the harmful effects of climate change.
