Year 7 – IGCSE
Application
Deadline for Scholarship applications:
Midnight Thursday 13th January 2022
Process
Candidates are invited to submit an essay of Historical interest. The essay is limited to 3 points on a History topic of candidate’s choice, and to be no more than 800 words. The topic can be from Classical or Modern History.
For example, the causes of WW1. The candidate would need to create at least 3 points on the causes.
You will also need to complete a registration form.
Start Date
Scholarships commence from September and the application process occurs during the preceding academic year. Scholarship applications are assessed in the Winter Term before the start of the award. Once a Scholarship has been awarded, it is held until the pupil leaves the school subject to maintaining the necessary standards.
Academic scholars are expected to become leaders in the classroom, inspiring their peers with both the quality of their work and the effort they put into their studies.
All awards are reviewed annually, and are maintained subject to the pupil meeting the criteria laid down by the Oxfordshire History Teacher.
Scholarship is divided into two categories:
Reduced Fee Scholarships, which equates to a 75% discount on fees.
Full Scholarship, which equates to a 100% discount on fees.
Full Scholarships
We offer 5 students Full Scholarships.
Reduced Fee Scholarships
We offer 10 students a Reduced Fee Scholars. Such students will have shown themselves worthy of a full scholarship but will not have been successful for selection as full scholars.
Such students should apply through the main scholarship process. Fee reductions offered by schools for these scholars are typically around 75%.

A Level Scholarship
Application
Deadline for Scholarship applications:
Midnight Thursday 13th January 2022
Candidates invited to submit an essay of Historical interest. The essay is to be constructed as a debate with two points for and two points against the History topic of candidate’s choice, and to be no more than 1000 words. The topic can be from Classical or Modern History.
For example, “The causes of Peloponnesian War.” The candidate would need to have an introduction, a main body with at least 2 points related to one cause and two points that detailed other causes and finally a conclusion.
Selected candidates will then be invited to a Scholarship Day, which will take place online as a group interview, they will also be informed of a topic of interest. The topic of interest shall explored in an online open discussion. Candidates are advised to read around this subject and prepare effectively. This interview is a chance for the candidates to express their intellectual curiosity and how well they can communicate their ideas.

All awards are reviewed annually, and are maintained subject to the pupil meeting the criteria laid down by the Oxfordshire History Teacher.
It is important to state that all A Level awards are conditional, pending the candidate’s GCSE results. Prior to the day, candidates should submit the following application materials:
- GCSE predictions
- An essay, limited to points stipulated above on a History topic of candidate’s choice
- A completed registration form
- On the day itself, the candidate will be invited to discuss a topic, along with others as part of a group interview.
